CF 21272/26.
HK
Sir,
Downing Street,
8 December,1926.
I am directed by Fr.Secretary Amery to acknow-
ledge the receipt of your letter (100/H/9377(S.D.2.) of
the 22nd of November relating to an application from
Honorary Cadet R.Ho Tung, a student at the Royal Military
College Sandhurst to undergo a course of instruction with
thexRoyal Tank Corps and to request you to inform the
Army Council that he is not prepared to press on political
grounds for Er.Ho Tung to be allowed to undergo such a
course.
Kr. Amery considers that it would be advisable for
refusal of the application to be based on some ground
less likely to cause offence than bringing Mr.Ho Tung
who is a British subject by birth under the category of
"foreign officers".
THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE
WAR OFFICE.
I am,Sir,
Your most obedient servant,
(Signed) G, GRINDLE.
